Feet On Firm Ground

This morning finds me in Glasgow, at the QMU, for day 3 of the UK / Ireland tour (and the first mainland show). Dublin was intimate but awesome, Belfast was raucous and sold out. It feels great to be playing with my band again, and the size and reaction of the crowds has been humbling so far. Much of the rest of the tour is sold out. I'm doing my level best to keep my eyes open all the time and take it all in, savour it, enjoy it. We hve a tour bus for the tour as well (hilariously, we booked the cheapest shittiest one they had, and then because of Spandau Ballet fucking around their bus bookings we ended up with the plushest of the lot! Ha!). It takes an awful lot of the edges off touring. I've been on buses many times before, but this is the first time where it's for me, rather than me cotching on someone else's ride. I feel manly.

Last night, old friend Zane Lowe played 2 of 3 tracks from a session we did for him back in August. The third track is being played tonight. If you missed it, you can listen again on the BBC Radio One website. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Also, the good folks at Hurley.com had me do an acoustic session for them in Orange County last month, and they've been posting the tracks on their website. Check it out.

Right, I now have a million interviews to do. Onwards!

I was at the Belfast show last night, and fucking hell, it was awesome. Didn't think it got much better than the last Belfast show at Auntie Annie's, but this was off the charts. Especially loved Try This At Home, The Real Damage and Nashville Tennessee. Get back here soon!

A huge thanks again for coming to the US, and playing a free show at Amoeba Hollywood (and taking a pic with me and my girl!)...it's the only show I could afford right now. =P

Too bad BBC doesn't let us Americans see your session vids...Oh well. Enjoy being home, and I hope to make it out to another show when you come back in a couple of months!

I tried to join the forums but it thinks im a spambot and blocked me. I just wanted to say a friend thought I needed to hear your song "Journey of the Magi" and he was right. It is an amazing piece of work and it has sparked a feeling of peace over some life lessons I needed to realize. Thank you

Saw you in nottingham on sunday. Absolutely fantastic. I loved what you said before you played Sons Of Liberty, I'm a member of the Territorial Army, and i think a few more people need to pay attention to that song. People fight and die to keep this country free, and then it gets lost in boardrooms and cabinet meetings. Well said that man.
I'd also like to say that the amount of Soul you threw into Journey of the Magi, and Long Live the Queen was really moving, you sang them both with such passion and determination, it was fantastic.
Not a single bad moment, best concert i've been to in years... since i last saw you actually!
Well done, wishing you all the succcess in the future.

Just recovered from Nottingham - damnedest near thing to a perfect gig I've ever been to. Thanks for Nashville Tennessee too! It was inspiring too to see how much the whole thing means to you all. What a buzz after the encore. It was worth the wait from the vomiting gig last year!
Enjoy the rest of the tour!

Dear Frank,

Just returned from your oxford gig, and must say thanks for an amazing night. Went stressed and tired, have come back happy and relaxed - although teaching may be tough tomorrow....
